Hi. I recently got to know this place from the Black Tactical Booth at the Cosfest. I'm not really very good at swordplay, although I do understand some basic fencing parries. I've also taken the liberty of Wiki-ing canon Lightsaber styles on the Wookiepedia. I hope we can tie down these safety aspects properly so that, if we do get around it, we can improve our swordplay safely. I, for one, though, would prefer to work on the performance aspect if lightsaber duelling. Lightsaber duels look more spectacular than regular sword duels since, you know, they're freakin' lightsabers.
Some time ago, I took a look at another Lightsaber club in America known as New York Jedi, and what impressed me was that all of them personified themselves when wielding lightsabers so that when they went to cosplay conventions, they had some cool personas to take on. Now, I'm taking it that dudes here aren't dorky enough to, you know, dress up as the Predator or put on some fancy makeup and head for a con like that, so I'll just leave this idea on the table to see if anyone else thinks it's remotely fathomable.
Thank you for your time. As a lightsaber enthusiast, I look forward to getting along with you gents. And ladies, if there are any here.

Um... I bought a Blue generic saber after much deliberation at some 6 o'clock today. I don't think I was playing with you. I did spy, with my little eye, however, someone within the stage boundaries wearing a suit and hat teaching another cosplayer the performance duelling method presented by New York Jedi. That guy was, prior to that, spinning two lightsabers. I do hope he's on this board.

Glad to have u on board, of course we would like to hear more or your view on the swordsplay. Hopfully we can have another meetup soon. PS: I must thank all those that took part in the mass saberduelorgy during the blackout. As some custom sabers came back with chip ends and broken parts, there isn't anything Kit can't fix as long as the part don't get lost But i must put a note that some custom sabers like the KOTOR aren't meant for heavy dueling. Till the next gathering!
