Think its best not to aggravate or provoke them...im saying this not becos we should be afraid of them...but we should maintain a distance away from them ...so that if anything happens, we would not be associated with them. Just behave and enjoy the event cos why we should we be nannies for such irresponsible brats

Self policing works only if they listen but we do not have actual authority so best is stay put and wait for them to cross boundaries then call 999 ourselves to report them as the law abiding citizens we are. And for those who missed L2P, it was a pleasure to hang out with all these mature and responsible folks from BT, none of whom wandered out of the location and before dinner break, all put down their gears and weapons in the convention hall before going out. The mentality has to be right, we don't dress up to seek personal glory or attention. To address the issue on wearing of ranks or unit patches, I don't see this as a problem here in Singapore especially when we dress up at gaming/comic conventions where EVERYONE will know we ain't real service members and we aren't dressing up in SAF uniform so there is no confusion there. We do NOT get free drinks in our costume for 'our service to our nation' so don't lose any sleep worrying that we are stealing the honor of an actual soldier. It really angers me when anyone suggest that we disrespect the respective service branch. Of all people, we are the ones who respect and recognise for the sacrifice that they do for their nation when most others will just skip those articles in the newspaper that goes like '3 US Soldiers killed by suicide bomber in Middleeast'. Heck, I even donated more than once to support veteran organisations and to pay for care packages to be sent to Marines in Iraq. So before you go on your couch chair lecture on what is right, ask yourself what have you done for ANYONE beside yourself. I have seen some post on other threads questioning our intention of this hobby so here's my take. What we are doing can be considered Modern Impressions & Reenactments. So the goal is to be as close with the details as POSSIBLE. (I have even considered at one point to get USMC Issued undershirt and underwear so yes, some of us are nut cases, mainly me). If you are peeved by how 'anal' we are to the details then you are not appreciating the very essence of our hobby. There isn't right or wrong in this case. If you like throwing on random gears for your 'prefered look', that is fine too, just a different branch of costuming and we respect that and we hope that to be mutual. Strictly speaking, I dislike the term Cosplay (so sue me) as it reminds me of blue wigs, colored contact lens and group dancing to some nihongo music and that's not what we are about. I prefer being refered to costuming but since most local organisers like to pack everything under the term 'Cosplay', we will just have to live with it. Have fun at cosfest guys, last year's turn out for good. Remember at least 4 SWAT costumers down there and was one of the first event I went in my USMC grunt gear

Yeah no bag deposits..which brings a craziest idea to my head haha A row of cordon tape and we're set to start out own bag deposit service at $5 per bag for the whole day for all cosplayers Can have BT members patrolling the perimeter to guard the bags lol

My personal thought:
Yes, I have thought of intentions to separate we and the anime Cosplayers.
This is protect ourselves and them from getting bad press from authority. This is just my own sentiments and holds no weight on any decisions made.

Support the idea for implementation. This way if the group were to be suspected of mischief or inorderly behaviour because of some individual or individuals, there would be facts and information to support that they arent in any way affiliated to us or BT...same as the way our MM operates. Each member has a responsibility to himself, his teammates as well as the group or organisation he represents. Barry: Agree with you as i do hate the word "cosplay" as the appropriate term would be Modern Military impression or Reenactment. For unit patches, im partial on this...though i would not personally wear or don any unit patches in respect of those who died, but i do collect them as they would serve as a donation/contribution to help the families of those who have died. As for the part of detail and accuracy, one could achieve the same effect with replica items but only if you have done your research. Would you prefer doing a half fark setup...and end up looking like a clown or do up one which you can be proud of..the person or unit whom you admiration and respect for. Know what you want and work towards it...thats the key

Just a thought, can it be done like how some new sports / Activity being intro into Singapore. may be register our interest or hobby officially with government body eg. People Association, this may brought about changes and view by the general public. Support the idea for implementation.
