I watched the movie just now, and i thought it was a really nice movie. Share what you like about it, Scene/Training/etc. For members who do not really know about the show, can have a look at the First 10 minutes in Boot Camp. Rated M18 but mainly due to gore violence which i assume most of us are used too. This movie make me want to get an AK47.

One impt thing : do not imitate in front of Marines.
They have been thru' a lot to be one.
They are proud of it , they are prideful of their honour and please don't itchy backside to act one or tried to be one or make fun of one when that person is not a marine.
That is not saying costuming is not allowed.
The crux of the matter is show respect to the real ones, not make fun / mock at them.

TGOW's right, they are professional soldiers, and have a whole lot of pride being one. They'd thumb their noses at National Service, man...
That said I'm pretty curious about what the American armed services are really like. Wish I could speak to some real 'been there, done that' kind of people.

The American would acknowledge that we are a city state and everyone, able bodied male, has to be a citizen soldier. We are not like them. I did trained with US 10th Mountain Division in my NSF days. They did remarked; the SAF will make a good run for whoever's time & money wanna challenge them. We can only smile and accept that.

Well, if it comes from them, of course smile and accept. What I meant when I said thumb their noses was, like, stuff like BMT vs Basic, I would think they're a little tougher, no? Of course, we lack the resources to maintain a fully professional standing army, but what we have is the best we can do.

If you guys want an updated film about the marines, may want to try Jar Head. Was based on the Iraqi freedom.

I love vietnam era movies. I can't explain why, but the period draws me in. Given the era the thread is mostly set in, I thought this would be quite appropriate. ^^
