Peter van Uhm is the Netherlands’ chief of defense, but that does not mean he is pro-war. At TEDxAmsterdam he explains how his career is one shaped by a love of peace, not a desire for bloodshed -- and why we need armies if we want peace.
http://www.ted.com/talks/peter_van_uhm_why_i_chose_a_gun.htmlThis is the very reason why we have to serve National Service. Guns are not funny business. They are powerful objects which can induce fear and panic, and yet are able to protect innocent lives as well. If you understand this, then good for you.
I personally, despite having a collection of toy firearms from BT, never really liked guns. My interest in guns only stem from my previous interest in wanting to join the police, which never happened eventually. It is my belief that guns should be used for peacekeeping and no anyone with other intentions should be stopped from possessing guns.
