Yeap used a PVC pipe for the barrel housing and a stainless steel pipe for the barrel.

ABS slabs, cut properly and then assembled using adhesives?

Or you could even use wood?

I'm thinking a M82 style muzzle brake would work, and would be fairly easy to replicate

For the central section, a PVC pipe of the right diameter should do the trick.
