I used a 12.7mm / 0.5 in pipe to make the faux barrel.

The left part is made by using epoxy putty and the right part is done by using a tapered grind bit. Dremel to make a "C" curve to house the pipe.

Completed works

Used scraps of plastic to make this part, join them with Goop.

I will use magnet to engage the faux magazine

A view of the whole works

Got a big lump of lead weight and some smaller ones cover by epoxy putty in the pistol grip area.

The right side shows the magnets, how it is attached.

Used "Goop" to stick the magnet in place.

Pardon me.

That is not genius.

This is science.

A genius is when one can solve the limitations of technology.

Has it set? How does the mag hold? Easy to take in and out?

Yup.

I am personally not setting realistic standards.

It is good enough to take in and out..

But do not expect it to hold if you wanna jump up and down like a "Shaman in a trance."

Wait... If I cut the pins, the mags can go in and out but cannot stick in the mag well right?

Cut the pins; then you will understand it.

If not, the usual practise: NPNT when in doubt.

all guns when you want to mod the mags,is always the spines and pins..do a lot more, and you'll soon realise the mechanics..

i just got an idea when i saw and read about the magnet part to engage the mag. There is this mangetic tape that can be purchased at hardware stores and i was thinking if u stick it to the sides of the mag and on the inside of the gun it should hold quite well. I know the policy here is NPNT but this just came to mind and I have not exactly tried it out yet but maybe one of you guys might try it out for yourselves and see if it works.

I have those magnetic tape and it holds very well plus they are not very thick. So if it works, at least the magazine will hold better and have a "click" feel to it rather then just a tight grip when removing and loading the magazine.

If you going for top mount magnet like wat Toy-God do, then may be out the window will be the charging handle + ejection hole mod.

However, I believe there is a way to keep both... but need good planning to execute it.

In the mean time, tolerence fit method to me is suffice to incorporate with charging handle and ejection port mod.

Also for this PDW mag mod, cut 3 strut with some calculation and estimation, it will fit nicely and tightly already.  See following video,

Staromega bro i not sure if u were referring to my post but I was thinking more like stick the magnetic tape on the side of the mags and on the insides of the gun not top mounted.. Side mounted would be more secure i think. Anyway b4 TGOW shoot me with a NPNT post, i'd better go try it out and post up when i can hahahaa but i need to get a new PDW first. muahahaha kinda f$^#ed up my current one hahahaha

Yes JT, I am refering to your previous post.

You know we normally slap the bottom of the mag after inserting the magazine, the side magnet  will not hold this upward force and the magazine will go all the way in and left only a third protruding.

So a solid "stopper" at magazine top position & mid way of the rifle is necessary.  With such stopper position , you can still mount the magnet at the top to provide the "catch" for the mag yet not obstructing the "bolt carrier" .

Haha I think i confuse many already.  Those who done the mod will know what I mean.
