Before anyone start to say Eotech / ACOG is a recent invention, it has been around for a long time since 1900.

It is recently that it was miniaturized for Picatinny rails.

I would think that the EoTech and ACOG sights are relatively new inventions, however, it's the idea and concept that is not.
