PJs during a training exercise at Joint Base Balad, Iraq, Sept. 26, 2009. The exercise simulated an extraction scenario, emphasizing the medical aspect of the pararescue mission.

Pararescuemen, once finished with technical training, are considered nationally registered emergency medical technician paramedics.
