I dont use Kilat for my case,Kiwi only.

Well, i will try to explain in words, if i fail to convey the message to you, please tell me.

Start of with the things you need.
Boots
Kiwi can opened, the cover filled with water.
Most importantly, cloth

1)Dip the cloth in the water then rub a little kiwi on it (Just use the cloth and kind of gently side off the surface of the exposed kiwi)

2) rub it on your shoe, it will look dull but do not panic. Make sure it covers the whole area where you want it polished.

3)Use the cleaner portion of the cloth now and simply dip it in water only, this time round, rub in a circular motion on the dull kiwi on your boots (Dont dip in kiwi).

4)As you rub the same spot, it will get shinier. Now just make sure you rub every inch of your boots repeating Step 3 till it all shines.

If you want it to shine more/Keep the shine for sometime, simply repeat 1-4 after completing 1-4 once.

Hope this helps.

If you really want the super-shiny polished effect, the correct way as I remember it would be to wet some cloth, dip a bit kiwi, then go rub on the areas where you want it to shine after some initial brushing. It takes a really long while to do it, though.

Being a lazy sucker who wouldn't go to this length to achieve a shine, I managed to get away by just brushing my boots with kiwi. The reflective shine effect wasn't exactly a requirement in the units I have been in, so the alternative method is to just dip your brush in kiwi, and brush the boot repeatedly. Keep going in the same direction, brush and brush and brush, and you should get a little of the shine.

The main point, especially for parades and inspection, is to cover any obvious dirt marks on your boots. In addition, you might also want to try liquid kiwi, that's the fastest way to kiwi your boots, make it look shiny, but I hear overuse tends to damage the boot. I never used it except in rare cases of surprise inspections etc where I borrowed from my 'mates for a quick fix.

EDIT: Alwin correctly describes the "standard" method to kiwi your boots.

Lacquer is for really lazy people
Liquid Kiwi is for people who has no time
Brushing method is someone still okay, my dad does it and gets away well.
Water and rubbing is the best for me so far. Shines quite well

Try not to follow people with burning the Kiwi method, so far, my cadets did that yet i still out beat them. So yea, up to you.

The circular rubbing method is best for me because, i have ever done it up so well, i literally see my face and reflect light at least 5-6 inch.

Yes Alwin method is the best... i used that thru my NS days and not a prob....

If u wan it to be gd... there is no short cut way...

using Kilat is not easy and it spoil the material of yr boots...

So best recommendation is Kiwi... if u do it right... 10mins it will shine

Shocked a lazy Splinter Cell, anyway, if you shine your boots. You would get caught.

My guess is just to apply kiwi up on it and keep brushing brushing and brushing. Maybe about 15 minutes, then you can do the wet-cloth method if you are going for the shine.

(I, for one, don't see the reason behind over-polishing boots except the regimentation and well... 'looking good' Tongue Back in my Scouting days, all I cared about was whether my shoes were black. Same goes for NS, hah.)

Trial and error, I guess?

Yes correct, keep applying kiwi on the brush and keep brushing till it shines.

Dont use the saf brush, buy the wooden big kiwi brush.

Polish boots easiest and good way,

take cloth rub abit of kiwi
Rub on ur boots such that every greyish / unpolished area is covered
Take those small spray, spray water on shoe(wet but not dripping)
Then take a cloth, hold both end, then jus rub against ur shoe..

Its like.. 5-6 rub, ur shoe will be bloody shinny  =D i personally dont use brush.. cuz brush damages the shoe, and u will have a harder time polishing it the nxt round.. haha

Then keep an ops pair and a  second dress pair  Smiley

What he said. That's why they issue you two pairs of boots when you enlist.
