Nah, not CH-53s. They ain't on the export market so the only way they could have gotten them would be through theft. The Hip is a good choice. Smiley

Next character of the day:
Hua Rong (花荣): Tall, imposing, yet handsome, Hua Rong was better suited to be a model rather than a military man. But serve he did, and with the Japanese Special Operations Group (特殊作戦群, tokushu sakusen gun). A designated marksman by vocation, he is renowned for being the second person to kill another sniper with a shot through his scope, the other being Carlos Hathcock of the USMC. He also has a knack with vehicles, legend has it that any malfunctioning vehicle will 'calm down' after his magic touch. This earned him a promotion to deputy commander of the Group.

He shielded Song Jiang who travelled to Japan while on the run, however betrayal by evil figures caused Song Jiang to be arrested. When Hua Rong learns that Song Jiang has been wrongfully imprisoned, he appealed to his commanding officer who actually was the one who caused the entire fracas in the first place. His appeal denied, Hua Rong did the last thing he knew: he led a few men loyal to him on a raid of the detention centre where Song Jiang was held, and extracted him. This made him an outlaw, and he went on the run with Song Jiang.

Weapons: M14EBR with scope, silenced, USP 9 silenced, and... his combat wrench/spanner!

Ok, sound okay here.

Tune down on the Carlos' thing; can pay tribute to the figure but try not imitate.
If imitate, do a parody.

Magic is a sensitive subject; military fiction do not really suggest too much.
Can accept.

Professional military figure do not use tool for hand to hand weapons; unless it is parody.

I was a professional writer in my early years, I know how to portray military figure and I do hundreds of hours research into military history, referances from Tom Clancy's books, Robert Ludlum, Frederick Forsyth & Alistair MacLean.

That is why.

Really? That's nice. To date I have done only a smattering of fan fiction (mostly half-done shizzles on my Facebook account), emulating mostly the styles of Dale Brown and the Battletech series. Might be going into journalism in the future, that's what I'm studying now. We shall see...

Oh, and, I apologise if it's going a little wayward. I'm slipping into more fiction mode than creating characters for cosplay. Thought the wrench would be cute, though, heh.

I have read before Btech.
In fact, the old adage "read more book" applies to future investments rather then short term term ones.

I got F**Ked by the editors, teachers and more in my early days.
The same mistake as you did.

"Stories & Novels are not comics. Do not mix them up!"
"Writing a novel at 16 years olds is not the same as composition!"
"Cartoon can never be novelised as they are meant for people who cannot comprehend metaphors & similes "

That was my intro to writing......

You, my friend gave the idea of making Liangshan into either a sub or a disguised freighter. Smiley

DISGUISED FREIGHTER FTW! And call it what, MV Kriegler. (MW reference, anyone? haha.) Not sub cos subs can't launch aircraft. Tongue

MV [insert Liangshan-related name here]. (at a loss for ideas).

Have you ever seen a Typhoon sub ?

They are a monster!
They are like Star Destroyer of the Submarines!

The Akula? Hell yeah... You mean for our heros to have accquired an Akula through questionable means and convert the missile silos to be able to launch aircraft? (VTOLs)

Check the original story again; Wang Lun was the previous head honcho of Liangshan. He is a brigand before Lin Chong does him in.
He can be a rogue sub captain who went renegade, turned to piracy.

There is a type of Typhoon called a "submarine cargo vessel".
All the missile silos have removed and replaced with cargo hold.
Could carry up to 15,000 tons.

Another is the "Liang shan" , a freighter with secrets.

disguised freighter?

Check out Clive Cussler's series "Oregon Files"

Quote
The Oregon is the name of a (seagoing) ship in various Clive Cussler novels including an eponymous series of novels, The Oregon Files. It made its first appearance in the novel Flood Tide (although The Oregon in Flood Tide was scrapped due to battle damage so the ship in the latter books was actually its replacement) and later had had the said series based on it and its crew. The series was written by author Clive Cussler, co-author Craig Dirgo, and later another co-author, Jack Du Brul.

The Oregon is a high tech ship owned by a private secret service organization called 'the Corporation'. It is disguised as a rusty old tramp steamer, to add to its appearance of authenticity this disguise is highly detailed; including a fake mess hall, a captain's cabin with smoke infused substances, a dis-functional toilet, and a painting of a depressing velvet clown. In reality it is a hive of activity with luxury facilities and top of the range technical machines. It includes Cruise missiles, torpedoes, 30mm Gatling guns, a 120mm cannon and .30-caliber machine guns all remotely operated. The ship is powered by magnetohydrodynamic drives. Its control centre is said to have the feel of the starship Enterprise.

I like that!

But "Liangshan" being a run-down , barely functional vessel is nowhere there.

The concept of the MV Liangshan could be like that of the Q-ship used as Royal Navy escorts during WWII. Cargo ship from far, threats appear, poof! All bristling with weapons. It can hold S/VTOLs in modded cargo holds.

Our LSS Taifun could be the one that launches heliborne assets -> doubt the cargo hold has even the facilities to launch and recover aircraft. Smiley
