@Phoenix Mate, how did you allign the magpul MOE handguard? by sight or did you use a guide? o.o crazy mods man
The rear of the MOE handguard fits perfectly inside the front of the Taidi delta ring once you cut the original front end off and clean it up. I also glued some spacers at the front and rear of the handguard which fit perfectly over the full length tube, so I got perfect alignment and strength.

Hey Phoenix, fellow aussie here, would you ever consider chucking up a few tutorials for people like me (who can only do the barrel switch and removable magazine mods) so that we can do stuff like you? for example, installing handguards, pistol grips, etc..

Hey guys, I'm actually not that good at the 'mechanical' mods - I'm more into the painting side - and I wasn't happy with the results of my pistol grip conversion so I don't think I'm the best person for this... Skeg-man is a true modder and scratch builder as is Superpoo and our Singaporean brothers so looking through the tutorial section and asking on the main forum would honestly be better. Handguards are easy if you put a steel pipe right through the receiver so there's something to attach the handguard to (I've posted about that, as have others), and several handguard designs attach to the top picatinny rail which makes it super easy. Unfortunately I don't have much time for the hobby at the moment but I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with.

oohhh.. cool. But what are spacers sorry i havent heard of it before @ozzenberg the spacers are just pieces of plastic tubing I cut to fit on either end and take up the space between the barrel and handguard so that it was centred and aligned.

Well, it's been a little while and to be honest I haven't spent any time on the hobby, work and life keep getting in the way. But I got a few things in the post today that I wanted to share, say hello to the 'twins' Before anyone gets weird, they are replicas and I have obtained them legaly. In some states in Australia it is still legal to import, and provided you get permission from the police you are right to go! There a pair of 1911 replicas, made in japan and readily availiable thru KAR. A few more shots... Working safety, including grip safety... They even field strip... And lastly a family shot... Got to be hones, I didn't think they were going to arrive, took over 6 months. I do believe that is unusual, but still a little concerning

I think in the not too distant future things will change, but for now they are OK.

Magpul sniper showing basic construction. Since pic, charging handle + weighting done and some paint... Thanks to Skeg Man for the inspiration! Sorry for the thread resurrection, but I've just read the entire thread with my jaw on the floor. Beautiful work. I'm in Sydney and I'm just planning my M4 build now. In your photos, it appears you are using aftermarket (ie not the standard taidi) buffer tubes with the new stocks. How do you go about mounting these to the gun? You just glueing them around the aluminium(?) pipe going through the gun? What diameter is that pipe? Any info is much appreciated.

Hey Intrasonic, welcome aboard mate. I use the standard Taidi buffer tube but I cut off the front bit that attaches (slides) onto the rear of the receiver and add a buffer tube nut for a more realistic look. Just glue the buffer tube onto the aluminium/steel tube going through the guts with Araldite for a rock solid mounting - get a tube thick enough for a snug fit (about 23-24mm) and it's really easy. You could use a metal buffer tube, but the Taidi one is cheaper and quicker... Enjoy!
