The Proper Way To Lace Your SAF Boots

It has come to my attention that many NSF find their boots stiff and inflexible, that is because most did not lace their boots properly. They follow the same method they used when lacing their school shoes. But if you may have noticed, they are very different footwear. (The colour is different that’s for sure)

The method I am showing here is a tested and proven method by armies from all around the world.

Here is how you do it.
Start from the bottom up inside out.
Follow the lace pattern in the picture shown, noting how the laces overlap each other too.
The main idea is not to cross over to top of the eyelets, as it will restrict the side plate movement when you bend down.

Putting on the Boot
If you have followed the pattern correctly, you will find that you will be able to put on your boots and tug on the boot lace upwards and the whole boot will secure together quickly, and you can pull down the plastic tension ball down to secure it.
When worn, you will find that you will be able to bend down and twist easily and the boot will not put pressure on the top of your foot and restrict your feet from bending.
When you want to take your boot off, you can pull up the ball stud and easily pull apart the top and the laces will automatically become undone all the way down and you can easily slide out your foot.

Shorten the Boot lace.
You will notice that when using this method the boot laces become extra long. If you are lazy to do your looping to shorten the boot lace, just cut the bloody thing shorter. One safe way is to open the boot up and measure how much access lace you really need, put the tension ball in place and cut off the access. Remember to use a lighter to melt the ends together again so that they do not fray.
